We are proud and happy to introduce Roll for the Galaxy, a game by Wei-Hwa Huang and Thomas Lehmann (Rio Grande Games), for online play on Board Game Arena. The big brother of this game, Race for the Galaxy, has been one of the most played games here on BGA for years, so we know that a lot of you were expecting this one! If you are familiar with RFTG, you can learn this new game very quickly since a lot of mechanisms are similar. Roll for the Galaxy is based on dice. At the beginning of each turn, you roll all the dice available in your cup. The dice have symbols on each of their faces matching the 5 different phases of the game: Explore, Develop, Settle, Produce, and Ship. Then, each player secretly "selects" a phase. Like in RFTG or Purto Rico, only the "selected" phases will be played... so at this step you'll have to guess the strategy of your opponents to take advantage of the phases you think they are going to choose 🙂 The phases are: Explore: draw new tiles an place them in your construction zone, or gain Credits. Develop: build a development tile from your construction zone. Developments bring you special abilities and powers, for example the ability to reassign dice to another phase. Settle: settle a world tile from your construction zone. Settling a new world will bring you additional dice. There are dice of different colors/sets of faces, so you can optimize your strategy by gaining and using specific dice. Produce: produce resources on your worlds. Ship: consume resources from your worlds for Victory Points, or trade them for Credits. What's the matter with Credits, you'll ask? Well, Credits are actually very important because you have to spend one credit to place each used die back into your cup for the next turn! And the more dice in your cups, the more things you'll be able to do! For a full rules explanation, watch the video. Roll for the Galaxy is an excellent variation on RFTG, with a brilliant system for planning actions. We found it a little bit easier to learn than RFTG or Puerto Rico, so it's also a good option to start with if you do not know yet games of this family. Roll for the Galaxy is included in the BGA Premium catalog. Like all other Premium games, you'll need a Premium account to create a new table for this game, and then you can play with whoever you want (Premium or not). BGA would like to thank Rio Grande Games for making it possible for the younger brother Roll for the Galaxy to join and complete the full Race for the Galaxy family already available here on BGA! Enjoy!
